Water quality varies a lot across our service area.

Homeowners on city water in Moore or Mustang deal with different challenges than families on private wells in Bridge Creek or Goldsby. What most of them share, though, is the nuisance of hard water-and the frustration of tap water that doesn't look, smell, or taste as clean as it should.

A whoIe-home water softner and filtration system treats your water suppIy at me entry point, before it reaches any fixture or appliance in your house. HMS offers professional
installation of the North Star NSCWHC as our preferred whole-home solution-a 2-in-1 system that softens water and filters for chlorine taste and odor simultaneously from one Wi-Fi connected unit you can monitor from your phone. And if the NSCWHC isn't the right fit for your home, North Star makes several other water treatment options designed for different situations-we'll help you find the right match.

What Better Water Can Do for Your Home

When your water is treated at the source, you feel the difference throughout the house. Here's what homeowners across our service area consistently notice after a whole-home water treatment installation:
  • Water that tastes and smells better - Carbon filtration reduces chlorine taste and odor at every tap, including the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room
  • Softer results in the shower - Many homeowners report that softened water feels gentler on skin and hair
  • Fewer spots and less scale - Softened water is less likely to leave white residue on dishes, glassware, and fixtures
  • Appliances that aren't working against hard water - Water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines can operate under less mineral-related stress
  • Smart monitoring you can set and largely forget - The system's Wi-Fi connection and iQua 2 app send alerts to your phone, so you know what's happening with your water without constant attention
  • One installation, whole-home results - Every faucet, shower, and water-using appliance in the home receives softened, filtered water from a single system
  • Drinking water options - For homeowners who want an extra layer of filtration at the kitchen tap, we can also discuss reverse osmosis drinking water systems as a complementary addition

How a 2-in-1 System Works

Softening and Filtration Together, From One Unit

A lot of homeowners think they have to choose between a water softener or a water filter. The North Star NSCWHC removes that tradeoff. It handles both jobs from a single unit installed where your water supply enters your home.
A note on softener pellets and your drinking water: The ion exchange process uses softener pellets in the brine tank to help the system regenerate-but those pellets never enter your home's water supply. The water your family drinks, cooks with, and bathes in does not contain softener pellet material. The two stay completely separate throughout the process.
A built-in, self-cleaning sediment filter catches particles at the front end, keeping them out of your plumbing and protecting the rest of the system.
Activated carbon media inside the unit reduces chlorine taste and odor as water flows through. The result is better, tasting water throughout the whole home, not just at a dedicated drinking tap.
The softener portion removes hardness-causing minerals using a resin bed. The system is regenerated using softener pellets, which are consumed during the resin-cleaning process and are never present in your treated water. With a grain capacity of 31,100, the system handles homes of any size, from a single person to a family of six or more.
This is where the NSCWHC separates itself from older, timer-based softeners. AutoSense Technology monitors your actual household water usage over time and automatically adjusts how often it regenerates, how many softener pellets it uses, and how much water it uses during the process. You don't have to program anything, it adapts to you.
The unit connects to your home Wi-Fi and syncs with the iQua 2 Water Management App. You'll receive critical alerts directly on your phone-including low softener pellet warnings, water usage notifications, and continuous flow alerts that can flag unusual water activity.
An ultra high-flow 1-inch valve ensures that the treatment process doesn't reduce your home's water pressure.

Is Your Home Telling You It Needs a Water Treatment
System?

Hard water and poor water quality show up in ways you may already be noticing. These are the most common signs homeowners in our area bring up:
  • A chalk-white buildup around sink faucets, shower heads, or the water line inside your toilet tank
  • Tap water that smells or tastes like chlorine-even after it's been sitting in a glass
  • Dishes and glasses that come out of the dishwasher with spots or a cloudy film
  • Skin that feels dry or tight after a shower, even when you're using plenty of soap
  • Laundry that feels stiff or looks dingy faster than it should
  • Scale buildup in your water heater or other appliances
  • Soap or shampoo that doesn't seem to lather easily
If you're on well water-common in communities like Bridge Creek, Goldsby, or rural parts of Blanchard-you may have concerns specific to your well that are worth discussing. The North Star NSCWHC is compatible with both city water and private well applications.
Not sure what's going on with your water? Let's talk it through.

The Short Version

If you want better water throughout your whole home-and you want a system that monitors itself and communicates with you via an app-the NSCWHC is worth a closer look. Call HMS and we'll walk you through whether it's the right fit for your home.

North Star Motorized Water Shut-Off Valve

(Part #7388598)

Stop a Leak Before it Becomes a Disaster

Water damage is expensive. One of the most frustrating parts of a plumbing leak is that you often don't know it's happening until real damage has already been done. The North Star Motorized Water Shut-Off Valve gives you a way to respond immediately-from your phone, no matter where you are.

How it Works

This motorized ball valve is plumbed directly into your home's main water supply line and connects to the NSCWHC's electronic board. When the iQua 2 app sends you a continuous flow alert that suggests unusual water activity, you can turn off the water to your entire home remotely, right from the app.

Installation is flexible. The valve can be placed at the softener itself or up to 10 feet away, depending on your plumbing layout.

What it Provides

  • Remote on/off control of your home's main water supply through the iQua app
  • Whole-home leak protection capability
  • Peace of mind when you're at work, on vacation, or just away for the day
  • Compatible exclusively with the North Star NSCWHC system

This is an optional add-on. When you schedule your estimate with HMS, just let us know you're interested and we'll include it in the conversation.

Not Every Home Needs the Same Solution - North Star Has Options

The North Star NSCWHC is the system we most commonly recommend for whole-home water treatment, and it's a strong fit for the majority of homes we serve. But water situations vary, and North Star's product lineup covers more than one scenario.

Depending on your home's water source, household size, and specific water quality concerns, other North Star softener and filtration models may be a better fit. When HMS comes out for your free estimate, we'll look at your actual situation and recommend the option that makes the most sense-not the most expensive one.

Ask us about the full range of North Star water treatment options when you call.

Add a Reverse Osmosis System for Your Drinking Water

.A Step Further at the Kitchen Tap
Whole-home softening and filtration treat your water supply throughout the house. For homeowners who want an additional layer of filtration specifically for drinking and cooking water, a reverse osmosis (RO) system at the kitchen sink is a natural
complement.

Reverse osmosis works by pushing water through a semi-permeable membrane, providing a highly filtered water source directly at the tap. It's a popular choice for homeowners who want their drinking water to meet a higher standard than whole-home filtration alone.

HMS can discuss reverse osmosis options as a standalone installation or as part of a complete water treatment package alongside your whole-home system.

Ask about reverse osmosis when you schedule your estimate. It's often easier and more cost-effective to plan both installations together.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's a single unit that performs two jobs: it softens your water by removing hardnesscausing minerals, and it filters for chlorine taste and odor using carbon filtration. The North Star NSCWHC installs at your water's entry point so every tap in your home receives treated water.
Water softening targets hardness minerals-calcium and magnesium-through a process called ion exchange. Water filtration addresses different water characteristics. The carbon filtration in the NSCWHC specifically reduces chlorine taste and odor. The NSCWHC combines both processes in one unit.
Yes. The NSCWHC's carbon filtration is designed to reduce chlorine taste and odor throughout the home. This affects every tap, not just a dedicated drinking water dispenser.
Yes. The North Star NSCWHC is compatible with both city water and private well water, making it a practical option for homes across our rural service areas.
The system connects to your home Wi-Fi network and syncs with the iQua 2 Water Management App on your smartphone. The app sends critical water alerts-such as low softener pellet warnings, water usage data, and continuous flow notifications.
AutoSense is the system's smart learning feature. It monitors your household's actual water usage patterns over time and automatically adjusts regeneration frequency, softener pellet use, and water use to match. You don't have to manually program a schedule.
The North Star Motorized Water Shut-Off Valve (Part #7388598) is an optional add-on that lets you shut off your home's entire water supply remotely through the iQua app. It's plumbed into your water supply line and connected to the NSCWHC's electronic board. It's designed to help you respond quickly if a leak is suspected.
Common signs include mineral scale on fixtures and showerheads, spots on dishes, water that smells or tastes like chlorine, and skin that feels dry after showering. If you're on well water, you may have other concerns worth discussing. Call HMS and we'll help you think it through.
